The aim of Young Arts is to provide exciting opportunities for children and young people to expand their horizons and experience the wide field of the arts. Our societies achieve these aims in many ways:

·  Helping with school projects, such as providing art materials or an artist in residence.

·  Funding visits to museums and art galleries.

·  Awarding bursaries to deserving students

·  Supporting non-school projects in hospices, hospitals, youth groups, prisons

·  Organising Art Exhibitions

Some of the Essex Area societies’ Young Arts projects in 2018 include funding an all-day sculpture workshop for Year 8 students at Heybridge Alternative Provision School, sponsoring an art student at Chelmsford College with a £500 grant, funding an artist in residence at Kingswode Hoe School in Colchester and providing £500 towards a long term project at Theydon Bois Primary School.

In addition a work was specially commissioned for amateur singers and players, in collaboration with Havering School of Music, to celebrate The Art Society’s 50th anniversary and the 45th anniversary of the School of Music.  A grant of £500 was also given to Witham Forest Arts in Education network to fund a local artist who will work with a local youth club in Vestry House Museum to produce some art in the style of William Morris.
